[attr="class","gas"] [attr="class","gas3"] [attr="class","gaslyric"]i became a god and all i did was speak one word
[attr="class","gastags"] 291 words short but sweet. like Billy. | [attr="class","gastext"] Walking through the streets of Fawcett city, Billy heard something that made his head throb. "Hey loser. Where'd you get those shoes? The garbage store?" Three obnoxious laughs filled the air, one sounded like they needed to blow their nose. Feeling the anger begining to flow through his veins, he turned to face the three banes of his existance, Kevin, Chad and Mike.
Kevin was the one who spoke up first. He was the tallest out of the three, and the scrawniest as well. Then there was Mike, the meathead who thinks that aliens are out to get him, then finally was Chad. How Billy hated Chad with every fiber in his body.
"What's up orphan? You busy scrounging up money for your dinner tonight? Hand it over." Rolling his eyes, Billy put his hands in his pockets. He pulled his left hand back out, effectively flipping the trio off.
"Orphan insults? Really be original you crater-faced soggy cracker and you should crawl back to whatever pile of dog shit you call a home and come up with a better insult you worthless piece of trash."
At that, Chad's face went beet red and Mike laughed like the air-head he is. Mike glared at Billy and cracked his knuckles. "I'm gonna send your stupid hat back to the ugly toilet store were it came from." he said, and at that the rest of the males looked at him.
Billy wasn't wearing a hat, the only think he was really wearing was his red hoodie, a pair of dirty jeans and some sneakers that had seen better days. Sighing, Billy also cracked his knuckles, "So who wants to get their ass kicked first?" he asked, switching to an offensive position.

I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown

[attr="class","Im"]
[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]if you want survival, kneel on my arrival. [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown in the waves | Teth-Adam had been plagued with volatile thoughts; an undercurrent beneath his flesh. He felt the thrumming, pulsating sensation of hatred coursing through his veins like the very lightning that empowered him. It was not a hatred born of ignorance or a feeling on inferiority. No, this was a growing cancer, one driven by clash after clash with these so-called heroes. Their methods were ridiculous, allowing these lesser beings to step on them.
One would find Khandaq's criminal population at all but zero thanks to his strict ruling. He was a kind and benevolent ruler to his people, but to those who broke the law he was merciless. His people looked to him for protection and he readily provided it. Some even worshipped him as a god and he allowed it. For were they wrong? He has lived for thousands of years, commanded the power of multiple Gods at his will, and yielded the living lightning at his fingertips. He's faced down the heroes and walked away victorious more than they would like to admit. Is that not a God? He knew it to be true.
It was with that disgust that he flew from his home in Khandaq to the skies of Fawcett City. He cared nothing for any territory beyond his kingdom's borders and even less for this place. The home of Billy Batson, better known as Captain Marvel or Shazam. The inheritor of The Wizard's powers. What a waste. Adam was still determined to either get the child to see how to truly wield his abilities or take them for himself and destroy the boy in the process. Either way was perfectly fine with him.
It didn't take the villain long to locate Batson. He felt the living lightning in the boy, giving away his location like a radar. Adam hovered in the air, stance imposing and leaking of prideful grandeur as he watched the pitiful interaction between his enemy and some commoners. An unimpressed sneer twisted his lips. "So who wants to get their ass kicked first?" Teth scoffed at the boy before looking toward the three civilians. "These are the mortals you desire to protect?" The disgust in his heavily accented voice was clear.
Without hesitation or remorse, he struck them down with a blast of lightning. The scent of electricity lingered in the air for a moment, the only hint of what was to come. Then came the thunderous crack and blinding flash of light. All that was left in its wake was ash. Cold, cold eyes stared at the boy, waiting for his reaction. "You waste your abilities on these vermin, scurrying through the streets like a rat when you could live like a king, a God."
His tone was cruel, egging the boy on to change in the middle of the city. Adam came looking for a fight and he would get one, one way or another. "The Wizard was wrong in his choice. You are not worthy. You are nothing but an ignorant child." It was almost surprising that the force behind his glare didn't outright burn Billy. Magic and lightning thrummed around the black-suited villain as he taunted the hero. "Show me what impressed the Wizard so." The threat that lingered afterward was obvious. 'Show me or else'. If Batson did not yield to his desires, then Black Adam would find a way to make him.

| [attr="class","gastext"] "These are the mortals you desire to protect?" That voice caused Billy to go rigid. If he was here, nothing good was going to happen. Turning to look at the male floating above him, he watched as he struck the three bullies down without so much as a hint of remorse.
"No!" Billy screamed, whipping his head towards the pile of ash where the three other children were just a second ago. Feeling anger spike throughout his body, Billy tried to calm his breathing, but tears pricked at his eyes.
Even though he saw this stuff almost every day, it hurt knowing that three people died because he was Shazam. He put every death on his conscience, visiting the families themselves to express his condolences. It took a toll on the thirteen-year-old.
"You waste your abilities on these vermin, scurrying through the streets like a rat when you could live like a king, a God. The Wizard was wrong in his choice. You are not worthy. You are nothing but an ignorant child." Adam spoke with a cruel tone that caused his fight or flight instinct to immediately go 'run'.
However, he knew Adam, he knew he wouldn't stop until he got his way. Billy wasn't sure what caused this sudden visit, but it was Black Adam. He didn't need a reason. Fighting back the urge to yell that one word, he returned the cold glare.
"What do you want Adam." His words were shaky but cold. He got his answer in the form of a taunt, daring him to go Shazam. He would not yield to Adam's will though. "No." The one word was filled with hatred for the villain.
He knew it was an idiotic thing to do, refuse Black Adam, but he couldn't help it. "I'm not going to bend to your will. It will be a cold day in hell when you can control me Adam" he said, flexing his hands slightly in annoyance.

[attr="class","Im"]
[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]if you want survival, kneel on my arrival. [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown in the waves | There was some satisfaction to be found at Billy's pained "No!" But it was not enough for the Khandaqian king. Adam could see the sheen across his blue eyes, hinting at withheld tears. There seemed to be a trembling mixture of sorrow and anger building in the boy. The villain knew he held each death close to his heart and blamed himself. Most heroes did. It was inconceivably dimwitted and entirely too easy to take advantage of.
Merciless brown eyes burned with righteous indignation as Billy refused to comply. Adam's lips curled into a facsimile of a snarl. As he floated, divine in stature and radiating godly power, he moved one hand, never removing his eyes from Billy's. When he spoke, his tone was arctic and biting. "If you will not bend to my words, then you will break at my hand."
That familiar ozone scent permeated the air and a thunderous boom trailed behind it. Screams followed shortly after a devastating bolt of lightning struck a nearby bus. The explosion that chased it rattled the ground and lit up the sky with shades of yellow and orange. Car alarms blared from the force. Black Adam's cape buffeted in the rush of heated air. He never so much as wavered in composure.
Then, he slowly drifted closer to the boy. They matched each other in height and weight when Captain Marvel came into play, but compared to Billy's mortal form, Adam was gargantuan. His shadow was cast over the small child, bathing him in darkness. There had to be something said for Billy's courage at being able to face such horrors all but daily. Courage would not be enough to stand against Teth.
That frigid, unforgiving look remained firmly in place. "How many of these insects will you let die? How many bodies shall fall to your hubris? You will obey." He left no room for doubt in his words, though the child's spitfire nature always left him somewhat surprised. The kid was stubborn, that much was known. Adam wondered how long it'd take to chip away at him until he was pliable. If he could not be molded, he would be buried..

[attr="class","gas"] [attr="class","gas3"] [attr="class","gaslyric"]i became a god and all i did was speak one word
[attr="class","gastags"] 469 words Billy angers | [attr="class","gastext"] He knew he messed up when Adam looked to grow angrier. He watched as he male waved his hand, and that meant one thing, he was getting ready to use his powers. "If you will not bend to my words, then you will break at my hand."
Hearing screaming, he turned just in time to see a school bus with kindergartners on it explode. Shielding his eyes from the bright glow, the sudden noise caused a ringing in his ears. Deeming it safe, he lowered his arm and stared in horror at the smoldering remains of the bus, some corpses charred black and scattered around.
Now Adam would usually do something like this, but Billy didn't expect it to happen to children. Innocent children who just wanted to go on their field trip to the zoo. Disbelief was written on his face as his small frame started to shake, with rage or anguish one couldn't tell.
Suddenly a shadow enveloped the child. Turning to face his enemy, Billy ground his teeth. Fury was in his eyes, "I'm gonna kil-kick your sorry ass all the way back to Khandaq." His words were spoken through his teeth.
"How many of these insects will you let die? How many bodies shall fall to your hubris? You will obey." Billy narrowed his eyes at the male standing over him. The citizens who stayed around were gasping and mumbling to themselves. One particular person said 'Why is he yelling at a child? Where's Shazam?'
Turning to look at them, he knew if he obeyed Adam, he was going to reveal himself to Fawcett city, but if he refused, Adam was going to continue killing until he eventually changed. "Why don't you take your sorry ass back to your tomb to rot. You'd be so much more useful there" Billy said, and immediately regretted what came out of his mouth.
"You want me to obey you? I will obey you this one time Adam. For the sake of my city, I will end you" he said, breathing hard. Looking around at the civilians who were gathered, he closed his eyes, afraid of what was going to happen next.
"SHAZAM!" He yelled, and the collective gasps from the crowd caused the hero to turn and look at them. They were whispering, and Billy could hear it all. 'Shazam's a kid?', 'Does the league know?' and the one that got to him was 'We leave our fate in the hands of a child, no wonder so many people die.'
Looking at Black Adam with hate in his eyes, he spoke once more. "You come to my city, murder my people, and force me to reveal myself. If I could, I would smite you right here, but I won't stoop to your level."

[attr="class","Im"]
[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]if you want survival, kneel on my arrival. [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown in the waves | "I'm gonna kil-kick your sorry ass all the way back to Khandaq." Black Adam gave a rather unimpressed expression at those words. The slightest tilt of his head revealed a hint of amusement. "You would do what now?" That haughty taunt still laid thick in his accented vocals. "Mighty words from a child indeed." He had picked up on the stunted 'kill' Billy tried to retract. How very interesting. Adam could see it, the cracks spiderwebbing through the hero's metaphorical armor. The time to act was coming, it'd seem.
His attention never shifted from the enraged youth, though he could hear and see the civilians around them in his peripheral. That malicious sneer curled into an almost predatory smirk once he heard one questioning where Shazam was. This was working out very nicely. "Why don't you take your sorry ass back to your tomb to rot. You'd be so much more useful there" At those words, a cold fury could be seen sweeping across his sharp features. For a moment, he debated on attacking the hero but withheld. The child would snap soon enough. "Oh? Shall I tell your parents remains how you have failed them while I'm there?" It was a low blow; beyond low, really. Black Adam grinned a small, feral-looking grin.
"You want me to obey you? I will obey you this one time Adam. For the sake of my city, I will end you" That grin widened into something utterly bloodcurdling. It almost seemed as if the temperature dropped a few degrees from the chilling nature of his expression. This is exactly what he wanted. "SHAZAM!" He watched with vicious intent as the bolt of lightning he knew so intimately struck the child. When the light faded, it was no longer Billy Batson who stood on the street. In his stead was a man of imposing stature and impressive muscle. That bone-deep hatred Adam felt only seemed to intensify as he stared at Captain Marvel. "Like a dog." There was such vitriol in his scathing remark, one could almost see venom fly from his lips.
"Would you like me to inform your colleagues what you intend to do? They do not seem overly fond of ending anyone, even me." It was a point he found quite amusing. Adam had killed millions, wiped out an entire country, and murdered heroes, yet they allowed him to live. It was utterly ridiculous. Yes, he helped the heroes every now and again when the stakes were too high for him to ignore. That did not change his stance, nor did it bring him trust.
That grotesque, almost sadistic expression only grew more vibrant as the whispers around them increased. The civilians finally found out who was protecting their city. Some were less than impressed and it only made for this plan to flow more smoothly. "You come to my city, murder my people, and force me to reveal myself. If I could, I would smite you right here, but I won't stoop to your level." Adam just shook his head at his nemesis. "You would do no such thing." There was such surety to his words, it almost sounded like a challenge. "Nor could you, if you even dared try."
His words were low, meant only for the two. Then he drew closer yet, power crackling off him in electric arcs. "The people you claim to protect - your people? - do not respect you. How do you command the power of Gods, yet command no respect? This is not your city or your people. You are a servant to them, nothing more."
He was close enough now that he could feel the living lightning crackling from Shazam, pushing against his own field of power."My people give me love, devotion, respect, not because I demand it. It is of their own offering. I protect and lead them in times of strife. Care for them in times of peace." For all the bad he's done, Adam truly only cared to keep his kingdom safe. For his loyalty to his people and the great effort he took to nurture them, they responded as fiercely with compassion.
Adam sneered, a new sort of anger inhabiting his expression. These heroes that claimed cities as their own, held a self-imposed sovereignty over its citizens, did not deserve their roles. They did not do what it took to keep them safe. They failed where it truly mattered. "Had you or any other come to Khandaq and issued such a challenge, I would not have hesitated in striking you down. You? You let dozens die before overcoming your pride to defend them." His tone was but a hiss at this point. "You are no hero, Batson."

[attr="class","gas"] [attr="class","gas3"] [attr="class","gaslyric"]i became a god and all i did was speak one word
[attr="class","gastags"] 969 words Billy im so sorry D: | [attr="class","gastext"] "You would do no such thing. Nor could you, if you even dared try." Those words cut through the haze of red that was temporarily blinding the young hero. It was true, he wouldn't do it, the threat that the league would come after him was too real. The league that kicked him out when they learned of his age, the people that turned their backs on Billy when he thought he could trust them.
Lightning was crackling around him when Adam came closer. He was preparing himself for a fight when the male spoke, his words taunting once more. "The people you claim to protect - your people? - do not respect you. How do you command the power of Gods, yet command no respect? This is not your city or your people. You are a servant to them, nothing more."
That caused Billy to stop and think. Looking around at his people, the people he swore to protect by locking the bad guys away and keeping the peace, but Adam's word held some truth. If they respected him, there wouldn't be any criminals. They'd know he was protecting them, but they continue to do crime. Shaking his head, he sneered at the other. "You don't know my people."
He knew it was a weak argument, but surely they had to have some respect for him, more than the league did. However, the league lost respect when they learned of his identity, will the people he would give his life for do the same? 'No, they're not the league. They'll still appreciate all I've done, right?' He thought, hating himself for doubting the people of Fawcett.
"My people give me love, devotion, respect, not because I demand it. It is of their own offering. I protect and lead them in times of strife. Care for them in times of peace." Giving the male a look of disbelief, he quickly replaced it with his angered look, trying to mask that his walls of anger were crumbling at the thought of losing the people, the city he loves.
Adam sneered once more at Billy and the younger returned the look, trying to get his previous anger. Adam had shown up and killed people in his city, so why wasn't he feeling remorse right now? A bunch of innocent lives were gone, but Billy couldn't feel anything but betrayal from his people. He should be angry, he should be downright furious, but he wasn't. Not anymore at least.
"Had you or any other come to Khandaq and issued such a challenge, I would not have hesitated in striking you down. You? You let dozens die before overcoming your pride to defend them. You are no hero, Batson."
That struck something inside of Billy. He couldn't distinguish whether or not it was anger, anguish, or just a sense of disbelief, but the words that left his mouth were not thought of until he spoke them. "Well show me then Adam. Show me how to be an 'effective leader.' Show me how to gain my people's respect, since you're so prideful about the respect you get!" he said, gesturing in the general direction of the group of people.
The same person as before, the one who lost faith when they saw he was a child, scoffed. 'Now he's going to work for that guy? Great, he's going to become a dictator'
Feeling anger prick up his spine, he grit his teeth and looked at the male. He seemed to be around Billy's current height, and a lot fatter than he was. He was going to say something, but he noticed the news cameras lined up around the crowd and that only added to his pile of regrowing anger. How long have they been here? Did all Fawcett know who he was? The young hero was going through too much today and he felt a headache forming.
People were still whispering, things about how he shouldn't be trusted because he'd be irresponsible, how he was just a child playing hero, and everything about him letting Black Adam go this long, how he must be working with Adam.
He couldn't take it right now. He launched himself into the air, hovering just over Fawcett, he felt his hands start to shake. It was all getting to be too much for the young hero. Feeling tears prick at the corners of his eyes, he cursed, refusing to cry.
Everyone was turning their backs on him. "I'm alone." he whispered to himself, and that broke the small barrier that kept him from crying. Wiping his eyes, he tried to calm himself down before he went into a full panic attack, fully aware that Adam was still around, but he just couldn't take all the sudden events. Everyone knew his identity, he was being abandoned once again.
He was sick of it, first, his parents died, he doesn't blame them for that, then his uncle kicked him out and took his money, he does blame him for that. Then he gets the power he always wanted and joins his idols as a superhero, but they find out his age and suddenly it's too dangerous for him, even though Batman has children running around all the time, and he was certain Superman would have his back, but he was the first to turn his back. Now his people, the ones he would suffer for, the ones he fought for everyday, were doing the same as the League.
He felt his breathing pick up and he started to hiccup. "Damn it, damn it, damn it all!" he said in a feeble attempt to stop the panic attack that was nearing. He hasn't had one of these since the first time he got his powers. "Come on Billy, you're not doing this now," he said, forcing himself to attempt to even his breathing out.

I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown
|

[attr="class","Im"]
[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]if you want survival, kneel on my arrival. [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ I swim in an ocean of blood and do not drown in the waves | There was a tension buzzing in the air now. Every venomous word, each pestilential glance thrown their direction only weighted the atmosphere further. As if it were a tangible weight pressing upon his shoulders, Billy cracked further and further. The war of emotions flickering in his eyes was a testament to the havoc being wreaked in his mind. He seemed to almost stoop beneath the pressure, much like the Atlas of myth. How appropriate it is, then, that he got his stamina from the titan with the world on his shoulders. Teth could only hope to watch him break beneath it all.
"You don't know my people." At the waspish tone, Adam couldn't help but let out a sharp laugh. This child was utterly naive. "I know them better than you, I suspect." There was that grandeur texture to his words again. The voice of a man who's led longer than he's ever followed. "Do your people-' there was a mocking subtext to his words. '- look as if they value the virtue of mercy? They are closer to me and mine than you care to admit." The growing crowd looked something akin to a pack of hyenas cackling and waiting to scavenge the corpse of a great lion as they circled the two goliaths. A scene Teth has grown accustomed to over his many years of life.
One thing Adam found endlessly amusing was how willing the citizens these heroes valiantly defended were so eager to turn on them. Their capacity for ruthlessness was nearly impressive. Many advocated for justice in the form of lynch mobs yet these crusaders harped about how no one had the right to take a life. How could such dissonance exist between the groups? He supposed so long as the morally righteous held the power and swore to be their shields, then the citizens could bite their tongues. That is, until a heroes blood hit the water, like right now. Then it became an utter frenzy. A malicious smirk curled the corner of his lips.
The breaking of Billy became all the more visible once Adam pointed out how truly little the young hero meant to his people. The flurry of emotions flashed across his face as if he couldn't figure out how to feel. "Well show me then Adam. Show me how to be an 'effective leader.' Show me how to gain my people's respect, since you're so prideful about the respect you get!" That smirk grew all the wider. This is exactly what he wanted. For all of Solomon's wisdom, the boy still had much to learn. There was never a finer puppet to be had.
A man in the crowd was growing increasingly vocal with his distaste for Fawcett City's 'savior'. It was like these vultures could scent the impending fall of the hero. The growing distress was obvious on Captain Marvel's face. It made Adam want to scoff. No wonder this lot were so easily manipulated. They wore their hearts and minds on their sleeves. Fools.
It was with black amusement that he watched the youth launch himself into the air further as if it could drive his problems away. From this distance, he could clearly hear and see his enemy shake apart. Tears gleamed under the sun; a sight he found both pathetic and satisfying. "I'm alone." Teth rolled his eyes at the boy's melodrama. He'd been alone for thousands of years. Periods only briefly interrupted with the love of his wife and brother-in-law. He hardly counted the moments he allied with others. They were a means to an end, nothing more. "Damn it, damn it, damn it all! Come on Billy, you're not doing this now," Adam had to fight down a look of disgust as he floated closer to the panicking hero. This was his moment. His opportunity to utterly shatter his mortal enemy and twist what remained to his whim. He had to play it right. No matter how much he wanted to strike the man-child down, he could not. Instead, he looked upon him with impassive, cool eyes. After another moment of observation, he placed his hand upon the other's broad shoulder. His finger twitched with the urge to crumble the bones to dust.
When he spoke, it was with the same hard tone as before but with markedly less virulence. It would be rather suspicious of him to suddenly be kind to Billy. It was a razor's edge game he played. "You are right. You're not doing this now. Not before your people. To show weakness before them is to prove you are not worthy to lead them." He stared at the tear-streaked face calmly. Rage and hatred boiled within him like a volcano but he kept a solid grip on it all. "You wish for my aid? So be it. But do not mistake me, Batson. You must follow my instructions if you wish to learn what I offer. Is that understood?"
He waited for only a moment before drifting back, breaking contact between the two. His imperious gaze swept from Billy back toward the crowd of people below. From this height, they nearly looked like insects. It would make this lesson that much easier. While Adam had no issue slaughtering others, some found looking into the faces of their victims difficult. When they look like mere bugs, it added an element of desensitization to the process. After all, one hardly felt bad for crushing an ant under heel.
"Your first lesson is among the most crucial. Fear." The subject made him think of Sinestro, one of the few whom Adam would dare call a friend. "Despite what most of your former colleagues would say, fear is power. It is control. Look at the Gotham Bats and Birds. They understand that. They weaponize it with efficiency. Is it any wonder it is almost always a Bat or a Bird who leads your teams despite their lack of power?" He would rather use the Lantern as an exemplar here but doubted that would be effective. It would be best to use someone Billy was closer to. There would be markedly less bad blood between him and the Bat than him and Sinestro, he suspects.
As he spoke, his gaze drifted from the crowd back toward Billy. "If your people - the ones you risk your very life for - do not wish to grant you respect then make them pay their tribute in fear." He gestured coolly toward the vague shape of the man who so callously spoke of the young hero. "Dissenters do not deserve their tongues. They take your spilt blood for granted and demand ever more. Strike them down until only the faithful are left. They will have no choice but to fall in line." There was no mistaking what he meant by his words. His features were hard as stone, showing he meant what he said. Patiently, he waited. If he could get Billy to do this, then he knew the little hero would be his tool in no time.
