Physical appearance:
Full name: Richard 'Dick' John Grayson
Play by: Anthony Gastelier
Alias: Nightwing
Canon or original: Canon
Alignment: Hero
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Powers/Abilities: Like other members of the Batfamily, Dick Grayson possesses no super powers or extra abilities. He is, however, highly trained in many areas. His training by Batman began when he was only 9 years old, and he was a circus acrobat before that, making him a natural athlete.
Master acrobat and aerialist
- Dick is considered the best human acrobat in the DCU. He's able to perfom moves that no other human on earth could perform. He is also faster than Batman and much more fluid. At one point, he was even able to pull a 'Batman' on Batman and leave mid-conversation without Batman realizing it.
Nightwing can easily keep up with and even catch his former mentor. Furthermore Nightwing can easily dodge bullets, knives, blades and such and is even fast enough to deflects them back in mid air. He is also fast enough to catch up with a train, a speeding getaway car and with the flying assassin Scarab despite him being too high up and according to Red Robin making it impossible for him to chase down but not for Dick - he even manages to plant a tracer on him.
Master Martial Artist
- Although Nightwing, like Batman, doesn't have any real superpowers, he has peak athletic strength and endurance of a man who regularly engages in intensive physical exercise. He's a master martial artist mastering dozens of fighting styles. Dick was trained for years by Batman and then had further training from Richard Dragon. Dick is considered one of the best hand to hand fighters on earth. He has made his own style of fighting to play to his strengths. He has taken down Ra's al Ghul and stalemated against Cassandra Cain and Deathstroke.
Peak Human Strength & Endurance
- With his strength, Dick has thrown a refrigerator, broke through a bus window while underwater and thrown people through concrete walls. When he was knocked away by a Superman clone he was able to recover quickly from the attack as well. He also withstood repeated attacks from Blockbuster despite being exhausted beforehand and not fighting back. Furthermore he can go without sleep for 4 straight days and hold his breath for 7 minutes.
Genius Level Intellect
- Dick is highly intelligent and a master detective. He was officially mentioned as being the second to Batman in detective ability. Dick has also had training in escapology, criminology, stealth, and disguise by Batman and others. He can also speak many different languages fluently, such as Spanish, German, French, Russian, Japanese, and others. Dick is also extremely proficient in disarming explosives. Barbara stated that Dick was able to solve 4 cases from "America's Most Wanted" in one morning. He has been able to solve the Riddler's riddles before Batman many times, even as Robin. Dick was also able to find and deduce the hidden clues in the Wayne Manor left behind by Bruce as a message that he's trapped in time. Furthermore he once hacked alien technology using Tamaranien language.
Indomitable Will
- He was considered a candidate for Abin Sur's Green Lantern, which ended up going to Hal Jordan. He's resisted Scarecrow's fear toxin and at times resist mind control for example he broke free from Brother Blood's mind control and was able to resist Groom's mind control.
Leadership
- He is a brilliant tactician, a strong leader and has a natural ability to read people. He has lead teams like the Teen Titans, the Justice League of America, and the Outsiders. Unlike Batman, he has exceptionally good people skills and may be one of the DC Universe's most effective leaders. During his time as Batman, Donna Troy asked him to be a Co Leader of the new Justice League she was forming.
Other Abilities
- Like Bruce, Dick is an expert escapologist, escaping a maze before the Flash. He is a master of disguise, stealth, and is a master marksman. According to Bruce, he has has a gift for reading motion and it was shown that he is capable to read gesture and body language and he uses it in connection with his analytical skills to find out if someone is lying.
Weakness:
Mortality
- In a world filled with super powered humans, aliens, monsters, Gods, and demons, Dick is just a regular mortal. One wrong move, one lucky shot, and it's all over. He can withstand a lot of punishment for a normal human, but he's still just a normal human. He's limited to human weaknesses and can only overcome so much.
Anger Issues
- Dick is known to have volatile anger issues. There isn't much that won't set him off if he's in one of his moods. And when he gets into it, he is known to be downright caustic and vicious. He's snapped on people, his friends, and nearly ruined more than one relation thanks to his quick temper and harsh words.
Grudges
- He can hold a grudge like nobody's business. After being fired from being Robin, it took years before he would speak to Bruce again and even longer before he was willing to let bygones be bygones. With age, his penchant for being spiteful has lessened, but he can - and willl - remember anyone who's wronged him or his family.
Traumatized
- Like most heroes who witness the deaths of their loved ones, Dick is absolutely swimming in trauma. After the destruction of Bludhaven, his rape at the hands of Tarantula (and Mirage when he was Robin), and watching Haly's Circus get burned down around him, he's only worsened in his mental state. He suffers from night terrors and depression, which he usually attempts to hide. Not to mention that time he was kidnapped by the Crime Syndicate, tortured, unmasked in front of the world, and then Lex Luthor stopped his heart. To say he's teetering on the brink of utterly losing his shit would be an understatement. He's even gone so far as to see the League therapist about his mounting issues.
Sexualization
- It's well known among the Hero and Villain community that Nightwing is incredibly attractive. He's been identified by his ass alone on more than one occasion, he's been raped twice (once by a former teammate), stalked, and consistently sexualized by heroes and villains alike. At one point, he was nearly manipulated into marrying his rapist. It's gotten to the point where he has to worry about just who really cares about him and who only cares about sleeping with him. It's a constant fear of his just what certain villains would do, should they catch him.
Personality:
Dick is known for his great sense of humor, usage of terrible puns, flirtatious remarks, and quick wit. He's a warm-hearted person who wants to make the world a better place, even if it's at the cost of his own life. He's determined to save others, regardless of the risk. Many would go so far as to say he is utterly bullheaded and stubborn, which they'd be correct about. After all, he was raised by Batman and everyone knows just how stubborn he is.
His quick temper and explosive rage is something of legends. He can hold a grudge for years and is willing to use low blows in verbal confrontations. Over the years, he's mellowed and become somewhat more easy-going and harder to set off. Given that he practically raised Damian Wayne for over a year when he first showed up at the manor without going ballistic goes to show that his patience has increased exponentially.
He's incredibly family-oriented and cares deeply about his adoptive family. Despite that, however, he's faked his own death at Bruce's behest for a mission, effectively hurting his loved ones. He's loyal to a fault, but also outspoken enough that if he doesn't agree with what's going on, he'll absolutely stand up and let that be known. He's even snapped at the senior Justice League members, such as Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman, causing them to fall in line.
Being born and raised in the Circus, then by Bruce Wayne, Dick is a natural showman and highly charismatic. His ability to read body language only allows him to play the field that much better. Being in the spotlight is something he definitely enjoys. Much like a preening bird, Dick is always willing to show off.
He's also an utter hopeless romantic. Sure, he's known for being a flirt, but once he falls for someone, he falls hard. He's been engaged twice now and still holds out hope for marriage, maybe even having a family. In a relationship, he's known for being an total sap.

Brief history:
Dick Grayson was born in the traveling circus, Haly's, to John and Mary Grayson on the first day of Spring, earning him the nickname Robin from his mother. It was joked that he learned to fly before he learned to walk. Being raised in the circus, he grew to become a highly skilled acrobat, capable of performing a quadruple flip, something no one but his parents were capable of doing.
After witnessing the death of his parents, he was taken to child services and placed in a juvenile detention facility rather than an orphanage. The reasoning was he was Romani and they were quite racist. He remained there for a short period of time before Bruce Wayne adopted him. It only took Dick a short while to find the secret entrance to the Batcave and figure out Bruce Wayne was Batman. Determined to catch his parent's kill, Tony Zucco, with or without Batman's help, he hunted the mobster down. Surprisingly, he was successful and Batman had to intervene before the nine-year old actually killed him.
He trained for years as Robin and was the first sidekick to appear in the superhero community. After others started cropping up, they formed a team called the Titans. It was Robin, Donna Troy as Wonder Girl, Roy Harper as Speedy, Wally West as Kid Flash, and Garth as Aqualad. They stayed on the team together for years and he grew to become very close with all of them, particularly Donna. They were such close friends, she even asked Dick to give her away at her wedding and he happily agreed.
Throughout his time as Robin, many things happened to the young hero. One of the most traumatizing things was when Two Face caught him, tortured him, and nearly killed him in front of Batman. Bruce nearly took the mantle from him at that point. He also met two women he would grow to love and nearly marry; Barbara Gordon and Koriand'r. Neither marriage fell through, however.
After an explosive fight between Bruce and Dick, Bruce fired him from being Robin and kicked him from the manor. That was when Dick left for Bludhaven. He had a talk with Superman and Clark told him of the kryptonian hero 'Knightwing'. It was how he settled on his new role as the Bludhaven hero Nightwing.
His run in Bludhaven was devastating, to put it lightly. It wasn't until Bruce was presumed dead that he came back to Gotham to take up the role of Batman, something he never wanted. At the time, he fought the newly resurrected Jason Todd for the cowl and won. Then, he pseudo-adopted Bruce's son, Damian and made him Robin while he was Batman. Upon Bruce's return, he remained Batman for a little longer before returning to his role as Nightwing.
He's been Agent 37 of Spyral after being caught, demasked, and declared dead in front of the world. Thankfully, he was able to eventually return to his role of Nightwing once more after deleting any evidence that Dick Grayson was Nightwing. Now, he just has to worry about the Court of Owls, an organization far too interested in catching him and making him their Talon; their Gray Son.
